Drinking water collection and distribution network of Manacor
Remote control and automation system for the municipal water collection and distribution network of Manacor
Remote control and automation system for the municipal water collection and distribution network of Manacor
SAM MANACOR
Drinking water collection and distribution network of Manacor
Initial situation
The water collection and distribution network of Manacor practically had no automation and remote control technology in place for the facilities, which is why maintenance for it was difficult and inefficient. What’s more, there was no real-time information available on its status.
Diagnosis / keys to the project
The key to the project lay in the addition of automation elements to the different key facilities of the network, which could set off alarms to anticipate possible breakdowns and deficiencies in the service. In addition, it was necessary to add a real-time monitoring and remote control software for the facilities, tracking through mobile devices to improve their maintenance, aside from the receipt of alarms. Implementation was carried out little by little, with the sophistication of the remote control system gradually increasing. It started with basic automation and the alarm generation system, until a comprehensive remote control system that would enable the study of historical data, demand forecast and cost optimisation was implemented.
Solution and benefits
The solution implemented was based on the addition of automatons to the facilities corresponding to the wells and tanks of the network, as well as a centralised Hydros Control software that was connected to the different automatons in the network, from distributed water meters with different communications systems (mobile phone, radio frequency) to control automatons for tanks and wells.
